Aerospace Metal Finishing

HEADLINE HERE

A highly abrasion resistant/non-conductive coating that makes an aluminum surface harder than tool steel due to greater thickness & weight than conventional Type II Sulfuric Anodizing. Hard Anodize is specified for aluminum components subject to extreme wear.

The Type III Anodize finishes we accommodate are:

  • Type III, Class 1 (non-dyed)
  • Type III, Class 2 (dyed) black

We also offer Hardcoat with SLICKOTE

We also offer a PTFE-impregnated hard anodized layer (MIL-A-63576 Type 3) that offers enhanced lubricity and wear resistance for parts subject to friction.

More About SLICKOTE

Anodizing Industries and Slickote have developed a process specifically for aluminum castings to make them appear to look more like machined alloy parts for cosmetic purposes. This involves first anodizing the casting then applying a thin proprietary seal (per MIL-A-63576 Type 3) which is trademarked under the brand name Slickote.

The purpose of adding this seal is:

1) Enhanced Cosmetic Appearance – to make the dull casting look like a black or silver machined part

2) Added Corrosion and Chemical Resistance – Salt water spray tested to 2000 hrs and soaking in acetone for 30 days

3) Impact/Abrasion Resistance – You can hit the casting creating an indent and the coating remains on the part

Benefits of Type II Anodizing:

• Durability Enhancement
• Corrosion Resistance
• Thermal Insulation
• Aesthetic Versatility

Industries Served:

Aerospace, defense, automotive, electronics, medical devices, and consumer products. Its applications include cookware, military devices, and electrical equipment.
